I remember the days when you had to go to someone\u2019s house to see if they were home. But that\u2019s been replaced with a science fictional universe where everybody can video chat. Even ten years ago, that would have seemed kind of wild, but now it\u2019s totally ubiquitous.<\/p>\n

WHAT DOES IT DO, AND WHY SHOULD I CARE?<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Your family is a hundred miles away; all you want to do is see their face and hear their voice. But, like I said, they\u2019re a hundred miles away.<\/p>\n

Enter Facetime, a video chat service from Apple that\u2019s so easy to use, built right into the native apps on the iPhone and Mac.<\/p>\n

By using your phone number or email address, you can connect directly with any of your contacts with super high-quality video and sound that makes it feel like you\u2019re actually in the same room as them.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s a beautiful thing because whilst it might not be easy for everyone reading this to remember, it\u2019s really not that long ago when anybody who left the room became invisible.<\/p>\n

So if you want to keep in touch, host meetings, and share your day with people instantly, then Facetime has to be the most powerful app you can use.<\/p>\n

\"FACETIME<\/p>\n

SO, HOW DO I GET FACETIME ON MY PC?<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n

This is where the bad news comes in. Do you want to download Facetime for PC<\/strong>?<\/p>\n

No matter how many links you\u2019ve seen online that guarantee you can use iOS apps on your PC, you really can’t do it so easily, and we don\u2019t ever want to tell you that you can.<\/p>\n

In fact, we\u2019d be wary of you downloading any software that claims you can access software like Facetime on a PC. Most of them will send you to an Android Emulator, like Bluestacks.<\/p>\n

Bluestacks is great! It\u2019s a beautiful piece of software we often recommend for getting Android apps onto your PC. Because that\u2019s what it does. Android apps on your PC.<\/p>\n

It doesn\u2019t work for iOS apps, which means it won\u2019t be the solution to getting Facetime on your PC!<\/p>\n

However, it\u2019s not all doom and gloom. Plenty of excellent video chat apps available, and you can find our Whatsapp for PC article here, which will allow you to access the incredible encryption of Whatsapp on your PC for free.<\/p>\n

And if it is Facetime you really want\u2026 there might be an app for that, too, but we\u2019d urge you to do your homework and test things out. Try iPadian for a great iPad simulator for PC that can give you the chance to download Facetime for PC and actually get it working.<\/p>\n

BREAK DOWN THOSE FEATURES FOR ME!<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Facetime is one of those excellent pieces of software that doesn\u2019t try to do a million things. You don\u2019t use it to text. You don\u2019t use it to swap images of you looking like a dog, or a Panda, or a Pirate, or you get the idea.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s built to do one thing brilliantly, and it does.<\/p>\n

When you open Facetime, you see nothing more than a list of previous calls and potential contacts, and because it\u2019s integrated right into your iPhone contacts, you can call people directly from an iMessage or even their contact details on your phone.<\/p>\n

That means that opening Facetime itself isn\u2019t necessary most of the time because it\u2019s seamlessly built into everything else that you do.<\/p>\n

SO, WHAT\u2019S THE CATCH?<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n

You came here to download Facetime for PC,<\/strong><\/em> and we\u2019re here to tell you to be really careful when people say you can do that. We\u2019re a respected site and we will only give you the truth. The truth is that as good as Facetime is, you just can\u2019t run it seamlessly from a PC.<\/p>\n

There might be ways to get around it, but again, why bother?<\/p>\n

Apps like iPadian can help you run iPad apps on your computer, but with so many amazing options existing for video chat, if you don\u2019t want an iPhone or you don\u2019t want a MacBook, then you should give Facetime a miss completely.<\/p>\n

However, if you do decide to go for a Mac, then the fact is, Facetime is awesome.<\/p>\n

SO, SHOULD I GET FACETIME FOR PC?<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Like we said, you can\u2019t. Your options are pretty straightforward. You can get a Mac, get an iPhone, or get a different piece of video chat software. And we\u2019re not saying that to put you off Facetime; we\u2019re saying that to give you the right information.<\/p>\n

Our job here is to make sure you make good decisions and trying to wrangle a piece of software like Facetime onto a machine it doesn\u2019t run natively on defeats the purpose of simple, easy video chat software.<\/p>\n

We recommend looking again at Whatsapp for PC or even downloading iPadian and trying it out from there.<\/p>\n

However, let\u2019s get back to what this was all about. Why do we use apps like Facetime anyway? To get closer to people we can\u2019t literally be close to at the moment.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re not all able to have our loved ones in the same space, but thanks to geniuses all over the world, it never has to feel like we\u2019re apart. Video chat means we can retain powerful connections with those we care about from far, far away, so whether it is Facetime or some other app, the real question you should be asking is this:<\/p>\n

\u2018Who do I want to speak to today?\u2019 and \u2018Who might want to hear from me?\u2019<\/p>\n

Let that sink in.<\/p>\n
